Injecting Botox® (or botulinum toxin) into your muscles weakens them. So, when we inject just a small amount directly into the facial muscles that cause frowning, it blocks the nerve signals, relaxing those muscles (basically “freezing” them). If the muscle can’t contract, it can’t produce a wrinkle. The injections only take about 10 minutes, and there is no downtime or recovery.
One treatment can make a remarkable improvement, and your results can last between three and four months—sometimes longer, depending on the patient. You’ll get the best, most consistent results when you set up a regular treatment schedule with the doctor. Remember, Botox® only affects the muscles that cause frowning.
